Men's tennis has 7-2 setback at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's tennis wrapped up its season with a 7-2 defeat in a non-conference match against Colby-Sawyer College on Sunday afternoon at the Kelsey Tennis Courts.

The Hawks conclude the 2018-19 campaign with an 0-18 overall record while the Chargers, a participant in last season's NCAA Division III Championship, improve to 7-9 overall.

The duo of senior Daniel Kmetz (Amston, Conn.) and sophomore Sam Kluger (Nashua, N.H.) led the way for the Hawks at No. 2 doubles against Matt Burke and Erik Antonacci. The Hawks tandem went on to win the match by an 8-3 score.

Kmetz also picked up an exciting victory at No. 4 singes against Burke. He won the first set 7-5 and proceeded to defeat Burke in the second set, 6-3.

The freshmen combination of Ethan Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) and Michael Rosen (Andover, Mass.) battled in a tough No. 1 doubles flight against Julius Lowman and Alex Wright, falling by an 8-6 score.

Rosen lost a close match at No. 2 singles. The first set ended with a 6-2 final in favor of Mike White while the two battled to a 6-4 score in the second set, which went to White. 

Hall dropped a close match at No. 1 singles against Alex Wright while Kluger fell in a two-set match at No. 3 singles against Lowman 6-2, 6-4.
