HOPKINTON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team registered a 12th place finish at Sunday's Northeast-10 Conference Championship race, held at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
Competing at the Fairgrounds for the second-straight event, Saint Anselm was 12th out of 15 competing programs with a combined score of 361. The Hawks were originally tied for 12th with Saint Michael's, but through tiebreaking procedure, Saint Anselm was awarded 12th place outright.
Junior Anthony Galasso (Reading, Mass.) led the Hawks with a 67th place finish, turning in a time of 27:11.36. Sophomore Jordan Cook (Biddeford, Maine) followed with a time of 27:52.34 with freshman Cole Corcoran (Braintree, Mass.) just behind, crossing the line in 27:55.74.
Senior Adam Pakalnis (Waterbury, Conn.) and sophomore Ben Sweesy (Merrimack, N.H.) rounded out the five scorers for Saint Anselm with times of 28:15.34 and 28:17.95, respectively. Sophomore Trent Briggs (Westford, Mass.), sophomore Tim Holmes (Shirley, Mass.), senior Nathaniel Shannon (Plymouth, Mass.), senior Timothy Stap (Windham, N.H.) and sophomore Adam Scott (Groton, Mass.) rounded out the entrants for the Hawks.
Southern Connecticut State won the team championship while Leakey Kipkosgei of American International won the individual championship with a winning time of 24:22.11.
Saint Anselm returns to action Saturday, Nov. 17, traveling to Garden City, N.Y. for the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship. Further information about the race will be posted in the coming weeks.
