NEWARK, Del. – Junior Tayla Trask (Lincoln, Maine) of the Saint Anselm College softball team was named to the Daktronics East All-Region Second Team as announced Monday afternoon.
Trask earned herself a 16-7 overall record after starting the season at 11-0. She pitched to a 0.98 ERA, which leads the NE-10 conference and ranks sixth nationally amongst all DII pitchers. Trask also leads the conference in complete games (17) and shutouts (6), while ranking third in strikeouts (107) and fifth in strikeouts per game (6.79). Five of her seven losses were by a single run, including a pair of 1-0 defeats, and she did not allow a single earned run in 10 of her starts.
Trask helped the Hawks to a 27-14 overall record with an 18-9 mark in Northeast-10 play and a 15-6 stance in the Northeast-10 Northeast Division to earn a share of the Regular Season title. The Hawks advanced to the semifinal round of the NE-10 Championship, before falling to New Haven, 5-1. The squad's 27 wins match the most victories for a single season since 2002.
