Hennequin limited Saint Michael's (6-17, 6-8 NE10) to one hit and just three baserunners in game one and was backed by 14 Saint Anselm (10-12, 8-6 NE10) hits as the Hawks took the opener, 8-0. The senior got a career-high 14 of her 21 outs via the strikeout and the 14 punch outs were the most by a Saint Anselm pitcher since Andrea Messina had 15 against Pace on May 3, 2002.

Offensively, Megan Murrell homered for the third-straight game and was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI in the win. Shannon McLaughlin went 3-for-4 with two runs, Erin Thompson was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI and Jordan O'Connor hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run.

Murrell gave Hennequin an early lead with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning, scoring Amanda Bickford who had doubled to start the game. After Hennequin hit the first batter of the game, she retired seven in a row prior to Chandler Wilder's one-out single in the third, which was the lone hit of the game for the Purple Knights.

The Hawks extended their lead to 6-0 with four runs on five hits in the top of the fourth. The first four hitters of the inning all singled, with McLaughlin driving in two with her single and Thompson following with an RBI single of her own. O'Connor doubled in Thompson for the fourth run of the frame.

A two-out walk to Christina Brazeau in the bottom of the sixth snapped a string of 10-straight batters retired by Hennequin. After McLaughlin and Thompson recorded RBI singles in the top of the seventh to make it an 8-0 game, Hennequin struck out the side for the third time in the game to finish off the one-hitter.

In the nightcap, Rathwell scattered five hits to shut out Saint Anselm and Danielle Barbato delivered a two-run single in the third for the lone runs of the game as Saint Michael's salvaged the split.

Murrell had two of the five hits for the Hawks, while Bickford, Maggie Murphy and Shannon Colson each had one. Hennequin was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in three innings of work with three strikeouts. Morgan Perry threw the final three innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four.

After Hennequin stranded two runners in the first, Saint Anselm had its best scoring chance of the game in the top of the second. Singles from Murrell and Colson sandwiched around two outs left runners on the corners with two outs before Colson stole second, but Rathwell left both runners in scoring position with a strikeout.

The Purple Knights gave Rathwell all the offense she needed in the home half of the third by stringing together three-straight hits. With one out, Brazeau singled and Rathwell helped her own cause with a double, leaving runners on second and third, and Barbato knocked in both runners with a single to left center.

Murrell singled to start the fourth and Murphy doubled with two outs in the sixth, but Rathwell pitched around both situations on her way to the shutout.

Saint Anselm takes on Bentley in a three-game set on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22. The Hawks and Falcons being the series with a single game at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon in Waltham, Mass.
