MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Courtney Fisher of the Saint Anselm College softball team was named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Fisher and the Hawks have sprinted out to a 7-4 record and have won three of their last four games entering Monday's action against Mary and USciences.
Pitching in four games this past week, Fisher posted a 2-0 record and allowed only five earned runs across 19 innings while striking out nine batters. In her first start of the week against Nova Southeastern, Fisher allowed only two runs in six innings in a tough-luck 2-1 loss.
Fisher pitched the Hawks to an 8-1 win against Ursuline on Saturday, striking out four in seven complete innings. She struck out one batter during Sunday's one-inning relief appearance against Concordia (N.Y.) before pitching her team to a 13-3 win in the second game of the doubleheader.
She has posted a 3-2 record through eight games in her first year at Saint Anselm, striking out 15 batters and allowing only seven earned runs in 33 total innings. She has thrown four complete games and has recorded a save.
