MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Amanda Bickford of the Saint Anselm College softball team earned First Team Academic All-District honors from the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as the organization announced the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Teams on Thursday.
A senior double-majoring in forensic science and criminal justice, Bickford boasts a 3.50 cumulative GPA and was one of 11 student-athletes to be honored in District 1, which consists of the Central Atlantic, East Coast and Northeast-10 Conferences. She is Saint Anselm's first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in softball since at least 2002, according to the organization's archives.
A four-time All-NE10 selection and two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region choice, Bickford also received NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors last spring. She has also been named to the Dean's List and NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in all seven of her completed semesters on the Hilltop.
Bickford, who plays both softball and volleyball for the Hawks, is Saint Anselm's all-time leader in career hits (222) and at bats (572), while ranking second in batting average (.388), third in total bases (254), fifth in on-base percentage (.415) and sixth in runs scored (91).
This season, the senior is hitting .406 with a single-season record 73 hits as well as 38 runs, 12 doubles, 17 RBI and five stolen bases. Bickford's 12 doubles this season are third-most in a single season at Saint Anselm, while her 87 total bases rank fourth and her 38 runs sit fifth for a season in program history.
After winning their opening game in the NCAA East Regional, Bickford and the Hawks take on crosstown-rival Southern New Hampshire at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11.
