MANSFIELD, Mass. – Junior pitcher Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College softball team was named Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday.
Perry had three complete games in the circle, going 3-0 for the fourth-ranked Hawks and allowed just seven runs and finished the weekend with 23 strikeouts. During the season-opening victory over Kutztown on Friday, she fanned seven batters. During a 3-0 win over Slippery Rock the following day, Perry struck out nine batters. On Sunday, she struck out seven batters and issued zero walks during a 3-2 victory over West Virginia State to wrap up play in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
In her career, she has logged 313.1 innings striking out 257 batters while walking just 82 in 58 career appearances in the circle. She has a career earned-run average of 2.35. She has a 34-15 record and 32 complete games in three years at the Hilltop. Over the weekend, Perry became just the sixth student-athlete in program history to reach 250 career strikeouts.
Perry and the rest of the Hawks head to North Andover, Mass. on Saturday, Feb. 23 to take on Queens (N.Y.) in a doubleheader at Martone-Mejail Field on the campus of Merrimack College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
