MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College softball team picked up the season sweep over the Greyhounds from Assumption College after the Hawks earned a pair of Northeast-10 Conference divisional wins on Senior Day. Saint Anselm took the opener by a 7-1 final before scoring seven runs in the fifth of game two for a 9-4 rain-shortened victory.
The Hawks improve to 31-8 overall and 19-2 in conference play while the Greyhounds slip to 20-18 and 13-12 against NE10 opponents.
Senior Jordan O'Connor (New Fairfield Conn.) went 3-for-6 at the plate, driving in six runs and scoring once over the two games. She keyed a four-run second frame in the opener with a two-run sacrifice bunt and finished the afternoon with 329 fielding assists, moving past Sara Swett '02 for second place on the all-time leaderboard. Sophomore Maddison Leite (Cumberland, R.I.) had two hits in game one, including a two-run blast in the fifth.
Junior Maggie Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) moved into seventh all-time in runs scored after crossing the plate three times today. She now has 91 in three seasons at the Hilltop.
In game two, the Hawks trailed 4-2 heading into the fifth. They scored seven runs on five singles in the inning, with a two-run single to center by junior Shannon Colson (Rochester, N.H.)

After a scoreless first inning, the Hawks scored four in the second and added a run in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
With two away and runners on second and third, Colson singled to left field to score Leite. After Colson swiped second, Murphy walked to load the bases. Sophomore Lauren Washburn (Carmichael, Calif.) drove in freshman Kylie Fitzpatrick (Danville, N.H.). With the bases still loaded, O'Connor laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored both Colson and Murphy, the trail runner who did not stop running on the play.
Junior Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) worked around a one-out error in the third, striking out two of the three batters in the inning. Saint Anselm added a run in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by freshman Bailey Cain (Wellington, Fla.).
After a quick fourth inning, the Greyhounds got their lone run in the fifth. A leadoff double by Caitlin Mirebell started the inning. She came around to score on a two-out error three batters later with Haley Drakoulakos reaching.
The Hawks got those runs back in the fifth with a two-run homer by Leite that scored junior Erin Thompson (Newton, N.H.).
Perry allowed just two baserunners for the remainder of the game, picking up her 17th win of the season. She had four strikeouts while allowing just one unearned run on four hits and a pair of walks. Mia Patriacca suffered the loss for Assumption in three innings of work, giving up five runs on five walks and five hits.

Each starter gave up a single over the first two innings, before the Greyhounds struck for the first run of the game in the third. Mia Richards started the inning with a walk and moved over after a sacrifice bunt and a ground out. Drakoulakos hit a two-out single through the left side to give Assumption a 1-0 lead.
The lead was short-lived as Saint Anselm scored a pair of runs with two outs in the home half of the inning. Colson singled before stealing second and moving to third on a misplayed ball. Murphy followed up with a walk and a stolen base herself, before O'Connor ripped a single to right center allowing both runners to cross the plate.
Neither team could push across a run in the fourth but Assumption regained the lead with three runs in the fifth.
The Greyhounds scored three runs with a pair of singles and a sacrifice bunt to build a 4-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. However, the Hawks pushed seven runs across in the home half of the stanza.
Murphy singled before stealing second, followed by a single by Washburn. With O'Connor at the plate and runners on the corners, Washburn broke for second and the throw by the catcher sailed into center field, allowing Murphy to score and cutting into Assumption's lead. After O'Connor singled to put runners on the corners again, Leite singled to score Washburn, before the bases were loaded on a walk.
Back-to-back singles by Fitzpatrick and Cain gave the Hawks a 6-4 lead, before a two-run single by Colson scored both Fitzpatrick and sophomore Kat Stackrow (Wynantskill, N.Y.). Cain rounded out the scoring after reaching the plate on a wild pitch.
Sophomore Courtney Fisher (Taunton, Mass.) earned her ninth win of the year with two strikeouts. She gave up four runs on seven hits and a single walk. Mia Nowicki took the loss for Assumption giving up all nine runs on 11 hits and three walks. She also had four strikeouts.
Saint Anselm wraps up the regular season with four road games, starting with No. 13 Southern New Hampshire on Tuesday, Apr. 23 at 4 p.m.
