MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm College softball junior Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) was named Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
This is Perry's second weekly award of the season. She went 4-0 in four complete games, struck out 32 batters and allowed just three runs, two of them earned, and had an earned-run average of 0.48 during the previous week. Perry had five strikeouts during a 3-1 victory over No. 17 Southern New Hampshire on Apr. 23. She matched her career-high in strikeouts with 14 against Bentley on Apr. 25 before fanning nine batters during a 4-1 win against the Falcons on Apr. 27.
During this season, Perry is 20-5 in 27 starts with 17 complete games. She has logged 160 innings and has already set a new single-season personal record of 186 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.36. She has a strikeout to walk ratio of 8.14 per seven innings as well. In her career, she recently became just the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach 400 strikeouts and now has fanned 420 batters in her career. She also has 51 wins in 82 games at the Hilltop. Perry is tied with Megan Lemire '10 for sixth all-time with 46 complete games.
Perry and the rest of the Hawks will be hosting the NE10 Championship weekend from Thursday, May 2 through Saturday, May 4. Saint Anselm has a bye to the Semifinal round on Friday, May 3 at 12 p.m. with an opponent to be determined.
