LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Junior pitcher Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College softball team was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region First Team for the second straight season, as the organization announced its all-region honorees late last week.
Perry has had stellar junior season to this point at the Hilltop. The unanimous Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year, Perry also earned East Region Pitcher of the Year honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner Association (D2CCA) after posting a 25-5 record this year with 22 complete games, 220 strikeouts and nine shutouts over a single-season team record 198 innings of work. Her 1.27 earned run average and 7.78 strikeouts per seven innings are among the best in Division II as well.
Perry helped the Hawks clinch their first-ever NE10 Championship title on Saturday, May 4 against two-time defending league champions from Adelphi University in walk-off fashion by a 4-3 score in 10 innings. She also helped Saint Anselm reach the NCAA Division II Super Regionals for the second-straight season by defeating the Penmen from Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday by a 4-0 score in the East 1 Region pod.
In her three-year career to this point, Perry ranks in the top-10 in several categories for the softball program. In 87 career games and 79 starts, Perry has the third-most wins (56) and shutouts (21) all-time. Her 454 career strikeouts, which made her the fourth-student athlete in program history to reach the 400 "K" milestone, sits fourth all-time while her 490.1 innings pitched is the fifth most by any pitcher at the Hilltop. Her 51 complete games are sixth all-time in the record books.
Perry and the rest of the Hawks will continue their postseason run in the NCAA Division II Super Regionals, beginning on Thursday, May 16. They will host the winners from the other East Region pod, the Pioneers from LIU Post, for the second-straight season.
