Megan Murrell, a 2018 graduate of Saint Anselm, has joined the Hawks as an assistant coach prior to the 2018-19 academic year. She will also serve the department as a Game Management Coordinator.
Murrell joins the Hawks after a successful four-year career on the Hilltop, helping her team to the NCAA Division II Championship as a senior in 2017-18. Earning First Team All-Conference honors as a senior, Murrell and the Hawks posted a 44-13-1 record and finished the season as the second-ranked team in NCAA Division II after falling to Southern Indiana in the national championship series. Starting all 58 games in her final season, Murrell hit .333 (60-for-180) with a .416 on-base percentage and .561 slugging percentage, leading the Northeast-10 Conference with 51 runs batted in. Murrell, a team captain, was picked as the team's Most Valuable Player following the season.
Murrell, a catcher, finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in career doubles (41) and runs batted in (106). She also finished third all-time in total bases (258), fourth in at bats (507), tied for fourth in home runs (18), sixth in hits (159), eighth in putouts (645), ninth in slugging percentage (.509) and tied for 10th in walks (42). Murrell made 162 total appearances for Saint Anselm and was a Second Team All-NE10 pick in 2017.
