Women's basketball to recognize The Jenny Fund on Tuesday

MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second-straight season, the Saint Anselm College women's basketball team will honor Jen Gureckis '11 and the organization dedicated to her memory, The Jenny Fund, on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. against the Skyhawks from Stonehill College.

A four-year member of the women's basketball team on the Hilltop and a native of nearby Nashua, N.H., Gureckis passed away on Apr. 23, 2017 after a courageous six-year battle against cancer. During her fight, Gureckis contributed all that she could to find a cure for brain cancer while also supporting those around her.

The Jenny Fund was established in her honor to provide support to the Mass General Hospital Translational Brain Tumor Research Laboratory, led by her surgeon, Dr. William Curry. The organization also helps to support youth basketball and mentorship programs, combining her passion for others with the sport she loved.

Gureckis capped a four-year career at Saint Anselm during the 2010-11 season, coming to the Hilltop after her selection as the New Hampton School Female Athlete of the Year. She scored 444 career points for the Hawks before her career was cut short during her senior season due to the illness.

In the face of illness, Gureckis went on to complete her degree in 2011 and graduated with a degree in Biology.
