  • Four Tabbed for ECAC East Women’s Ice Hockey All-Academic Team

    CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Kristen Byrne (Duxbury, Mass.) and juniors Marissa Serafino (Rutland, Vt.), Sami Tatu (Waterford, Mich.) and Aly Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) of the Saint Anselm College women’s ice hockey team were four of 76 student-athletes named to the ECAC East All-Academic Team, the conference announced Friday afternoon.

    Amherst, Mass. (January 19) -- After winning a season-high eight straight games, the Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team went on the road and lost to fifth ranked Amherst 5-1 tonight. The loss is just the hawks fourth of the season, bringing their overall record to 12-4.
  • Women's Hockey at Amherst Postponed To Wednesday

    Manchester, N.H. (January 18) -- Tuesday night's women's ice hockey game at Amherst College has been postponed to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19th due to a winter storm impacting New England. The Hawks are winners of eight straight and currently sit at 12-3 overall and 6-3 in the ECAC East.

    Centerville, Mass. (January 17) -- Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Pam Beach, Fla.) has been named the ECAC East player of the week. The award was given for the week of January 10-16. This is the first time this year a member of the Hawks team has won the award.

    Plymouth, N.H. (January 15) -- After an 8-0 win last night, the Saint Anselm Hawks women's ice hockey team defeated the Panthers of Plymouth State University 4-0 to extend their win streak to 8 games. Rosemarie Giarrusso (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) scored a hat trick in the game.

    Portland Maine (January 14) -- Securing their 11th win of the season, the Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team defeated the University of Southern Maine by a final score of 8-0, earning their first shut out of the season. The win improves the Hawks record to 11-3 overall and 5-3 in the ECAC East.

    Manchester, N.H. (January 11) -- Saint Anselm’s women’s ice hockey team continued its winning ways this afternoon, defeating Bowdoin College 3-2 in overtime to pick up its sixth straight win. Courtney Winters (Swampscott, Mass.) scored a hat trick, picking up her fifth, sixth, and seventh goals.

    Buffalo, Minnesota (January 8) -- In the second and final game in Minnesota, the Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team defeated the College of Saint Benedict in a 4-1 contest. Sophomore Ciara Petry (Poolsville, Md.) scored twice, collecting her first and second career goals.

    Buffalo, Minn. (January 7) -- The Saint Anselm Hawks women’s ice hockey team was in Minnesota tonight to play the first of two weekend games. The Hawks were matched up with Saint Scholastica tonight, winning 3-2 in overtime on Kathryn Picarello’s (West Roxbury, Mass) first goal of the season.

    WATERVILLE, Maine (January 4) -- Kristen Byrne (Duxbury, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in the third period for the Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team in a 2-1 over Colby College on Tuesday night. The win improves the Hawks record to 7-3 overall.

    Manchester, N.H. (December 4) -- Amy Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was forced to make just 12 saves en route to her first shutout of the season this afternoon against UMass.-Boston. The Hawks racked up 49 shots on target in the game, scoring twice in the 2-0 win over the Beacons.

    Colchester, Vt. (November 20) -- On two goals by both Alexa Hingston (Charleston, Mass.) and Aly Zappen (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Saint Anselm cruised 6-0 win against the Purple Knights of Saint Michael’s College. Meghan Grant (Melrose, Mass.) was made just 12 saves in the game.

    Manchester, N.H. (November 12) -- Scoring twice in the first two minutes, the Saint Anselm Hawks women’s ice hockey team defeated Salve Regina by 3-1 final in their home opener. The Hawks outshot the Seahawks 42-10 en route to the win.

    Purchase, N.Y. (November 6) -- In their most closely contested game of the 2010 season, the Saint Anselm Hawks women’s ice hockey team fell on the road this evening to the Valiants of Manhattanville, 3-1. The Hawks were outshot by just three, 31-28.

    The 2010-11 Saint Anselm Hawks women’s ice hockey team enters the season following a 15-11-1 overall record and 12-6-1 record in the ECAC East, finishing in fifth in the conference standings. The team advanced to the ECAC Open tournament, and fell to Holy Cross 3-1 in the finals.

    Dudley, Mass. (November 5th) -- For the second straight game, the Saint Anselm Hawks women’s hockey team scored six goals in a 6-3 win over Nichols College. Led by two goals from Molly Corl (Danvers, Mass.), the Hawks scored five-unanswered goals after trailing 2-0 early.

    Fairfield, Conn. (October 30th) -- Opening their season this afternoon, the Saint Anselm women’s ice hockey team was in action against the Sacred Heart Pioneers on the road. The Hawks saw six different goal scorers to pull out a 6-4 win on a Sarah Ellins (Greeley, Colo.) game-winning goal.

    Manchester, N.H. (October 22nd) -- The Saint Anselm Hawks women’s hockey team has been picked fourth in the 2010-11 Preseason ECAC East Coaches’ Poll. Saint Anselm received 109 points in the voting. Norwich was first in the poll with 138 points, and seven first place votes.
