MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore forward Alison Quinn (Canton, Mass.) and sophomore forward Alison Butler (Danvers, Mass.) each tallied a two-point game as the Saint Anselm women's hockey team handled intrastate rival Franklin Pierce Friday night, 2-0.
The Hawks won the physical game that saw 22-minutes' worth of bookings, yet neither team could strike a power play goal, combining to go 0-for-11 in power play opportunities.
Quinn and senior forward Sabrina Iannetti (Lynn, Mass.) assisted on Butler's game-opening score, coming at the 18:12 mark in the first half. Butler then returned the favor in the third period, dishing out an assist to Quinn at the 7:53 mark of the third period for the final dagger.
Butler and Quinn finished the game with a plus-minus rating of plus-2. Iannetti, sophomore defenseman Meaghan Spurling (Byfield, Mass.), senior forward Tiffany Herron (Clinton Township, Mich.), junior defenseman Halle Kent (Lake Placid, N.Y.), sophomore forward Alex Starzyk (Enfield, Conn.), and freshman defenseman Jackie Guy (St. Louis, Mo.) all finished plus-1 on the day.
Senior goaltender Lindsey Brown (Mounds View, Minn.) tallied 16 saves to join her goaltending platoon with a 0.00 goals-against average through the first three games this season.
The Hawks not only improved to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in ECAC Women's East action with Friday's win, they also remained perfect in the all-time series against the Ravens, improving to 5-0 in the three years of Franklin Pierce women's hockey sponsorship.
Saint Anselm returns to action for a Saturday matinee against Saint Michael's College in another ECAC East league battle. The puck drops at Sullivan Arena at 1 p.m. sharp.
