MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Jessica Galiczewski, Alex Kazmer, Jackie Guy, Hannah Synnott and Alex Starzyk of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team were all named to the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) All-Academic Team for the 2015-16 season, as announced on Tuesday.
The quintet was among 141 student-athletes from 14 NEHC institutions to earn the honor. In order to be eligible for the accolade, a student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have completed one full year at their current institution.
Galiczewski, a senior defenseman, is majoring in economics and finance and earned a conference academic honor for the second year in a row, after being named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East All-Academic Team last season. She played in all 27 games, recording two goals and four assists and the Hawks were +21 with Galiczewski on the ice.
Kazmer was also a second-time academic honoree after receiving ECAC East All-Academic Team honors in 2014-15. The senior forward is majoring in natural sciences and was an Honorable Mention All-NEHC selection by recording 12 goals and 16 assists in 27 games.
A sophomore defenseman majoring in communication, Guy picked up all-academic honors for the first time. She appeared in all 27 games, scoring three goals and recording 14 assists.
Synnott, a criminal justice major, was a 2014-15 ECAC East All-Academic Team honoree as well. In her junior season, she started 23 games in net for the Hawks, going 19-4-0 with a 1.47 goals-against average and .909 save percentage.
Starzyk is a junior forward majoring in mathematics and received her first all-academic honor. She was named the NEHC Player of the Year, a CCM Second Team-All-America pick, and a finalist for the Laura Hurd Award after leading the conference in points per game (1.48) with 19 goals and 15 assists in 23 games.
