MARSHFIELD, Mass. – After a seven-point week, sophomore forward Maura Kieft of the Saint Anselm College women's hockey team was selected as the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Kieft tallied four goals and three assists during a 3-0 week for Saint Anselm to help the Hawks outscore their opponents by a 19-2 margin and become the first Saint Anselm player to earn the accolade this season. The sophomore has recorded at least one point in 11 of the last 12 games and has eight goals and nine assists over that span.
Kieft's standout week was highlighted by her first-career hat trick at New England College on Friday and she added an assist in a 5-1 Saint Anselm victory. She also scored in a 5-1 win over Trinity (Conn.) on Wednesday and added a pair of assists in a 9-0 triumph against the University of New England on Saturday.
The next game for the Hawks is a trip to Saint Michael's on Friday, Jan. 27. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
