MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Junior forward Kaitlyn Spillane became the second-straight member of the Saint Anselm College women's hockey team to be named New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon.
Spillane, who shared the honor with Norwich defenseman Kim Tiberi, tallied three goals and two assists in two victories for Saint Anselm last week. The junior registered a goal and two assists in a 5-1 NEHC victory at Saint Michael's on Friday, before scoring twice, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 win over ninth-ranked Connecticut College on Saturday. Spillane's recognition came a week after linemate Maura Kieft became Saint Anselm's first recipient of the award this season.
For the season, Spillane ranks second on the team and fourth in the NEHC with 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists. She has recorded at least one point in each of the Hawks' six-straight wins, including 11 points over four-straight multi-point performances.
Saint Anselm, which currently leads Holy Cross by two points atop the NEHC standings, plays a pair of home conference games this weekend as part of Pink In The Rink Weekend at Sullivan Arena. The Hawks host Salve Regina on Friday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. before entertaining Manhattanville the next day at 1 p.m.
