Meehan earns NEWHA Player of the Week honors


MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore forward Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team was selected as the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Meehan helped guide the Hawks to a 1-0-1 record on opening weekend against Sacred Heart University, tallying three goals and an assist in two games.

In Friday evening's 4-4 tie against the Pioneers, Meehan dished out an assist on Saint Anselm's first goal of the game by junior teammate Kaley Campbell (Colchester, Vt.). During Saturday afternoon's 3-1 victory, the sophomore was responsible for all three goals, posting her second-career hat trick. Meehan currently leads the team in goals (3) and points (4).

In her career, Meehan has played in 30 games with 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points (19-15=34). She has also posted four game-winning goals.

Meehan and the rest of the Hawks host Manhattanville College on Friday, Oct. 26 at Sullivan Arena for a 4 p.m. exhibition game.
