Meehan earns second NEWHA weekly honor

MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second time this season, Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey sophomore forward Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday morning.


Meehan helped guide the Hawks to a 2-0-0 weekend with a sweep of Franklin Pierce University, tallying three goals and a pair of assists in two games.

During Friday's 8-2 win, Meehan was involved with four of the eight goals for Saint Anselm including scoring the eventual game-winner. She assisted on the Hawks second goal of the game while scoring one of her two tallies in the game at 7:04 of the second period. In Saturday's 5-2 win over the Ravens, Meehan scored the second goal for the Hawks. On the year, Meehan is tied for the team lead with nine points (6-3=9) and leads the team with six goals.

Meehan and the rest of the Hawks welcome Post University for a weekend series at Sullivan Arena. The first game is Friday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m.
