MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second-straight week and third time this season, Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey sophomore forward Katy Meehan (Quincy, Mass.) was selected as the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Meehan helped the Hawks go 2-0-0 this weekend with a pair of home victories against Post University, registering six points on four goals and two assists (4-2=6) with a plus-5 rating.
Against the Eagles on Friday, Nov. 9, Meehan scored twice in an 8-2 victory. Her first goal came on the power play at 13:20 of the opening period to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Her second goal came with just over nine minutes remaining in the third period to make it 8-1. During a 9-0 victory on Saturday, Nov. 10, the junior had a hand in four of the team's nine goals, scoring twice and picking up two assists. She scored twice in the second period just under six minutes apart, the first coming at 7:47. She added her two assists on a pair of third-period goals for the Hawks.
On the year, she leads the team and the NEWHA with 15 points and 10 goals (10-5=15). She is one of six players on the team with five assists. In her career, Meehan has 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points (26-19=45) in 34 games.
Meehan and the rest of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team will head to South Burlington, Vt. for a weekend series with the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College beginning Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at Cairns Arena.
