MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey senior tri-captain Caley Mueller (Littleton, Colo.) was named New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week, as announced on Wednesday.
Mueller helped the Hawks pick up a 3-1 victory against Franklin Pierce on Friday, Jan. 18, registering two points on a goal and an assist. This is the second time she has won the weekly award this season.
She picked up Saint Anselm's first goal of the game just 29 seconds into the action. She scooped up a loose puck rebound in front of the net and tucked it inside the left post. She then went onto assist on the Hawks third goal of the period, firing a shot on net before sophomore teammate Mary Lambert (Plaistow, N.H.) put away the rebound with 3:08 left in the period.
On the year, Mueller has 17 points, which is second on the team, on eight goals and nine assists. Her eight tallies are tied for second on the team. All three totals are a single-season career-high mark for the senior. In her career, she has played in 99 games, registering 48 points on 21 goals and 27 assists.
Mueller and the rest of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team hit the road for a pair of NEWHA contests beginning Friday, Jan. 25. in Shelton, Conn. The Hawks play against the Eagles from Post University for a 1 p.m. tilt at the Sports Center of Connecticut.
