MANCHESTER, N.H. – Marta Versprille '18 and Jamie Traverse '18, recent graduates of Saint Anselm College and four-year members of the women's lacrosse program, were named to the 2018 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll for the second-straight season on Monday.
The IWLCA honored 248 student-athletes from 65 different institutions on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
Traverse, a Third Team All-Northeast 10 Conference selection this past year, started all 18 games for Saint Anselm's defense, setting career highs in ground balls (25) and caused turnovers (11). Over her four seasons on the Hilltop, she totaled 51 ground balls, 23 caused turnovers and 19 draw controls, while starting 50-of-56 games for the Hawks. She graduated in the spring with a degree in natural sciences.
Versprille, a communication major, set career highs in goals (26), assists (7), points (33), ground balls (36), draw controls (59) and caused turnovers (19) this past spring. She finished her career fifth in school history in draw controls (142) and caused turnovers (59), while tying for sixth in games played (64) and ranking all-time 11th in ground balls (99). Her 59 draw controls in 2018 stand as the ninth-most in a single season in program history.
Traverse and Versprille earned Academic Honor Roll merits from the IWLCA for the first time in 2017.
