MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team opened Northeast 10 play at home on Saturday afternoon with a shutout of Pace University 2-0 in the team's 2018 home opener at Melucci Field.
The Hawks first goal came 7:51 into the first half when senior Corey Murray (Topsfield, Mass.) found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Nicole White (Danvers, Mass.). Murray had a team-high five shots on goal on the afternoon.
The Hawks topped off their victory with an unassisted goal by junior Caly Farina (Southbury, Conn.) with 20 minutes left in the first half.
The rest of the game was scoreless despite six total shots on goal for the duration of the match.
The Setters had nine total shots on goal but could not capitalize as sophomore Payton Wildrick (Dartmouth, Mass.) secured the shutout for the Hawks.
Saint Anselm moves to 1-2 overall, undefeated in the NE-10 Conference with a 1-0 conference record. The Setters move to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference matches.
The Hawks are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 12 as they take on Southern New Hampshire University at Melucci Field at 4:00 p.m.
