MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Four members of the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team received All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10 Conference on Friday.
Senior Caly Farina (Southbury, Conn.) earned Second Team All-Conference honors while junior Suzanne Cotter (Acton, Mass.) and senior Micaela Pitts (Marshfield, Mass.) were Third Team All-Conference selections. Freshman Megan Nguyen (Dudley, Mass.) garnered a spot on the All-Rookie Team after a stellar first season.
Farina played in 15 games as a senior with seven goals and two assists for 16 points, leading the Hawks in goal and point scoring. She sits sixth on the program's all-time points list with 55 and ranks fifth in career goals with 22. Farina helped the Hawks to their best start in program history with a 3-0-2 record through its first five games of 2019 and she registered at least one point in seven games this season.
Against Franklin Pierce, she posted four points with two goals against the Ravens and also logged a pair of game-winning goals on the year. Among NE10 student-athletes, Farina finished the year with the league's ninth-best goals per game mark (0.47) and her seven goals was 10th in the league. Farina is the first member of the women's soccer team to earn a Second Team spot since 2012 when Kaitlin Oldfield '13 accomplished the feat.
Pitts was a strong performer on the Hawks defense this year. She started all 17 games, recording her first assist of her career while guiding a defense that logged four shutouts in 2019. She capped her career with 61 games played on the Hilltop.
In her third season, Cotter totaled four points on two goals while starting 15 games. The NE10 All-Rookie pick from last year played a key role in the offense as she recorded goals against nationally-ranked Saint Rose and Southern New Hampshire.
Nguyen made an instant impact as a freshman, helping a defensive unit that has posted one of the top seven goals-against averages in the conference with a 1.18 mark. She also earned Rookie of the Week merits from the NE10 on Oct. 21 after she led the defense to a 1-0 shutout victory over Pace.
Saint Anselm was in contention for a spot in the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer Championship until the final day of the regular season. The Hawks finished their regular season schedule with a 7-3-7 overall and a 4-2-6 record against NE10 opponents. Before the conference tournament begins, the Hawks were ranked in 10th in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region Rankings.
