Women’s Tennis Captures Third Straight With 7-2 Win at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Meghan Golden (Scituate, Mass.), sophomore Katie Roberts (So. Windsor, Conn.) and senior April Regan (Berlin, Conn. ) each won both of their matches to lead the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team to a 7-2 win against American International College on Saturday afternoon at Central High School.

The Hawks win their third straight to run their record to 3-2 both on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Yellow Jackets sink to 0-3, 0-3 NE-10.

Golden won her third straight No. 2 singles match by defeating Isabel Daudt, 7-5, 6-2, and then teamed with senior Kate Martin (Hudson, N.H.) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-3 victory against Eleana Fulop and Jasmine Byrd.

Roberts and Regan won No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by default and combined for another default win at No. 3 doubles.

Freshmen Jess Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also won her third straight singles match at No. 1, dispatching Ana Paula Simoes, 6-1, 6-0. Junior Leah Fitzgerald (Bedford, N.H.) joined Golden and Perkins by also winning her third consecutive singles match at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0, against Byrd.

The Hawks' Sunday, Sept. 21 (11 a.m.) match at Bentley University has been postponed due to expected inclement weather. They return to action Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. when they travel to Saint Michael's College.
