MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshmen Jess Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Meghan Golden (Scituate, Mass.) each won their singles matches, but the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Stonehill College on Wednesday afternoon at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Hawks fall to 4-6 on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Skyhawks improve to 7-1, 7-1 NE-10.
Perkins handled Bailey Paradiso, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Golden was awarded the victory over Janet Haas at No. 2 singles after an injury default.
Perkins and classmate Ashley Sulkin (Ipswich, Mass.) nearly toppled Paradiso and Emma Prinos at No. 1 doubles, but fell, 8-6.
The Hawks return to action Friday, Oct. 10 at 3 p.m. when they travel to take on Bentley University in a makeup of their postponed Sept. 21 match. The Hawks wrap up their regular season Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. when they play host to Assumption College.
