Women's tennis tripped up by USciences, 7-2

ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior Jess Perkins of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team had a hand in her team's two victories on Sunday as the Hawks posted a 7-2 loss to the University of the Sciences at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Saint Anselm falls to 5-9 overall on the season while USciences improves to 8-5 on the year. The Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 6, taking on NCAA Division III Ursinus at 8 a.m.

Perkins and Kaitlin Hughes opened up doubles play with an 8-5 win at the top flight, downing Karla Miletic and Abbygail Gamarnik. The pair of Maikah Bulpitt and Meghan Golden battled to an 8-5 loss at No. 2 doubles while Kayla Hodas and Eleni Petromelis dropped a No. 3 doubles match, 8-2.

Perkins kept up the strong stretch of play at her team's top singles flight, winning by a 6-2, 6-1 margin over Miletic. USciences cruised to victory in the final five singles matches with Bulpitt providing the closest match, a 6-2, 6-1 loss at No. 4 singles.

Through 14 singles matches, Perkins boasts a 12-2 record this season. Perkins and Hughes have also combined for a 9-4 record in doubles play for the Hawks to date.
