MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Jess Perkins of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team was honored as the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the second-straight week on Tuesday.
Already atop the program record book in combined match wins, Perkins achieved the 100th victory of her career as part of a week that saw her go 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-1 at No. 1 doubles for Saint Anselm in Florida. The senior entered her team's match against Aquinas on Tuesday with 98-career match wins and hit the milestone by winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Her three singles victories during the week ran Perkins' winning streak to four matches and improved the senior to 15-2 on the season. Perkins is 11-5 in 2017-18 with Kaitlin Hughes at the top doubles spot.
In two matches on Thursday, Perkins posted two singles wins and one doubles victory with Hughes. Against Aquinas, she dropped just her fifth set of the season but bounced back in the decider for a 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 victory. Later in the day, she won 6-3, 6-3 atop the singles lineup and 8-5 with Hughes at No. 1 doubles.
Over her standout career on the Hilltop, Perkins is 60-10 in singles and 43-21 in doubles for a combined record of 103-31. The Shrewsbury, Mass. product was named the NE10 Player of the week twice as a sophomore, three times as a junior and twice more this season.
Saint Anselm's next match is a home matchup with Colby-Sawyer at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4.
