Women's tennis downed by Le Moyne, 6-1


SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Kayla Hodas (Peabody, Mass.) picked up the only win of the day for the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team as they fell by a 6-1 score to the host Dolphins of Le Moyne College.

Le Moyne improves its perfect record to 3-0 on the season while the Hawks fall to 0-2.

Competing at No. 6 singles for the Hawks, Hodas held on for the 6-3, 6-4 victory to earn her team's lone point of the afternoon.

Seniors Tess Malerbi (Scituate, Mass.) and Lexi Stathis (Roackaway Beach, N.Y.) opened their matches with 6-3 wins in the first set, but Malerbi was downed at No. 1 singles in three sets while Stathis was tripped up at No. 4 singles with her match also going the distance.

The Hawks return to action Monday, Sept. 10, taking on the Panthers of Plymouth State University at 4 p.m. The match will be held at the Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H.
