INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in program history, the Saint Anselm College volleyball team has earned an NCAA Tournament bid, landing the No. 7 seed in the East Region as the 2017 Division II Women's Volleyball Championship field was unveiled on Monday evening.
In its 31st season, Saint Anselm (16-12) received an at-large bid into the 64-team field and will face No. 2 seed Molloy (25-5) in the opening round at the University of New Haven on Thursday, Nov. 30 at a time to be determined. The Lions secured an automatic berth into the field after winning the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship with wins over Bridgeport in the semifinals and N.Y.I.T. in the title match.
The winner of the match between the Hawks and Lions will face either No. 3 seed LIU Post or No. 6 seed American International in the second round. Other first-round matchups in the region see No. 1 seed New Haven take on No. 8 seed Caldwell and No. 4 seed N.Y.I.T. square off against No. 5 seed Southern Connecticut State.

The Hawks have compiled a 16-12 record this season and advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Championship last week. Saint Anselm downed Bentley in five sets in the quarterfinals for its first-ever victory in the league's postseason tournament before being edged in five by Southern Connecticut State in the semifinals on Friday.
Senior outside hitter Katy Teets and junior setter Jewel Hays each were named to the All-NE10 Second Team, sophomore middle Madison Sollows was selected to the All-NE10 Third Team and freshman middle Holly Manchester was an All-Rookie team pick.
