MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Jewel Hays (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) of the Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team was selected as the Setter of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference on Tuesday.
Hays and the Hawks posted a 2-1 record across the first week of competition, defeating Stonehill and Shepherd in four sets before registering a 3-1 loss to Southern New Hampshire on Sunday.
Across 12 sets of action, Hays posted 145 sets while averaging 12.08 per set for the Hawks, leading the conference. She posted three double-doubles, posting at least 47 assists and 10 digs in each match. She tallied 49 assists in the season opener against Stonehill and against Southern New Hampshire, posting 47 against Shepherd in a neutral site tilt on Saturday.
The three-time Setter of the Week award winner has averaged just shy of 10 assists per game across an 83-match career on the Hilltop, contributing with 2.41 digs per set during her tenure. Her 9.20 assists per set are the most in program history and she stands only 185 assists away from becoming only the third setter in program history to reach 3,000 career helpers.
Saint Anselm heads to Pennsylvania on Friday to take on four teams on the campus of East Stroudsburg University in a two-day tournament.
