Women's volleyball earns placement in NCAA East Region rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team earned placement in the first set of official NCAA Division II regional rankings on Wednesday.

The Hawks were slotted 10th in the East Region after recording a 12-9 record against regional foes while also picking up five wins against in-region, non-conference programs. Five other Northeast-10 Conference programs were listed alongside Saint Anselm, including top-ranked New Haven, Adelphi, Pace, American International and Saint Rose.

Saint Anselm has ran off an overall record of 14-9 heading into its final four regular-season matches of 2018, helped by a dominant 8-2 record at home. The Hawks rank second in the Northeast-10 Conference in hitting percentage (0.244) and kills per set (13.02). The team has also racked up 12.17 assists per set, the third-best figure in the league.

Individually, the Hawks are led by junior Madison Sollows (West Barnstable, Mass.) and her league-leading hitting percentage (.371). Senior Jewel Hays (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) checks in for the Hawks with the conference's third-best figure in assists per set (10.35) and sophomore Elise Jolly (Merrimack, N.H.) ranks in the top-10 with 0.83 blocks per set.

As a team, Saint Anselm is on pace to set single-season program records in kills per set (13.02) and assists per set (12.17).
