HOPKINTON, N.H. – Led by senior Liberty Gendron (Goffstown, N.H.), the Saint Anselm College women's cross country team registered an eighth-place finish at Sunday's Northeast-10 Conference Championship race, held at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
In total, 14 runners competed for the Hawks who placed eighth out of 15 programs with a score of 203. Gendron's 5K time of 23:33.96 was 36th in the field of 144 runners as the Hawks competed at the Fairgrounds for their second-straight race.
Freshman Holly O'Leary (Tewksbury, Mass.) was 42nd with a time of 23:46.63 while classmate Dominique Engle (Rutland, Mass.) was 46th overall with a time of 23:53.80. First-year runner Sarah Mullen (Seekonk, Mass.) was 54th, crossing the line in 24:01.34 with classmate Samantha Matthews (Groveland, Mass.) rounding out the scoring times with a 58th-place finish (24:11.07).
Freshmen Lia Guerette (Ellington, Conn.), Ellen Duane (Braintree, Mass.) and Caitlyn Callinan (Litchfield, N.H.) placed 62nd (24:26.68), 64th (24:38.11) and 65th (24:42.21), respectively, with classmate Ailish Husband (Plymouth, Mass.) checking in with a 69th place time of 24:52.24. Senior Anna Barrell (Marblehead, Mass.) posted a time of 25:10.65 with freshman Leanne Guimond (Barnstable, Mass.) just behind with a time of 25:14.32.
Junior Maquila Dimastrantonio (Shapleigh, Maine) navigated the course in 25:22.45 with Emily Ryan (Woburn, Mass.) crossing the finish line in 26:40.45. Junior Meaghan Wilson (Pepperell, Mass.) rounded out the field of Hawks runners with a time of 26:42.24.
Stonehill won the team championship with representatives taking first, second and third place in the field of 144 runners. Anna Lastra had the winning time for the Skyhawks, completing the course in 21:57.39.
Saint Anselm returns to action Saturday, Nov. 17, traveling to Garden City, N.Y. for the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship. Further information about the race will be posted in the coming weeks.
