BETHPAGE, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College women's cross country team recorded its best finish at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship since 2011, placing ninth out of 27 teams in the field.
The Hawks, racing on the 6K course at Bethpage State Park, had not placed in the top-10 since 2011 when Saint Anselm finished fifth out of 27 teams competing at the regional race.
Senior Liberty Gendron (Goffstown, N.H.) paced Saint Anselm with a 38th-place finish and a time of 24:11.70, wrapping up her Hawks career with four-straight finishes where she led the Hawks scorers. Freshman Dominique Engle (Rutland, Mass.) was three spots behind her, clocking in at 24:20.10 while classmate Sarah Mullen (Seekonk, Mass.) crossed the line in 24:32.60, placing 51st.
Freshman Holly O'Leary (Tewksbury, Mass.) recorded a 76th place time of 25:19.10 with classmate Ellen Duane (Braintree, Mass.) rounding out the scorers for Saint Anselm, placing 81st with a time of 25:26.4.
