Edward F. Cannon was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987. Cannon came to saint Anselm in 1974 as an assistant soccer coach and was appointed to head coach a year later. Under his auspices the Hawks have compiled a 90-70-2 record in soccer and currently hold five straight NE 9 Conference championships. He won his second NE8 “Coach of the Year” award and in 1983 was named Coach of the Year by the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League.

Cannon graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he starred on both the soccer and basketball teams. He was twice named All-American and four times All-New England in soccer. In 1983, he was honored by being inducted into the WPI Hall of Fame as a charter member.
